Tackle It Tuesday

Tackle it Tuesday #112 July 15, 2008

I have two tackles this week. The first is setting up regular office hours. If you frequent my blog you know I have a goal in getting all the junk out of the storage unit so we don't have to keep paying a monthly fee. So, to get the junk out of the storage unit, I need to be listing stuff on eBay to sell. Now some of you might be thinking it might be easier to trash the stuff and not worrying about it. There are two reasons why I sell on eBay. One is I need the money. I can make a couple of hundred dollars a month selling on eBay and it is money that I can spend on non-essentials (like more craft supplies) and Two I hate to add to the landfill and if someone else can put my junk to use, great! I want to work on eBay stuff at least three hours a day. So, I will either be in my office between 9 am-12 noon or 2-5 pm every weekday.

The second tackle this week is an emotional one. I think I take for granted my amazing family. I have a 20 year old daughter, an 18 year old son, a 12 year old son and an almost 1 year old granddaughter. My youngest is the only one at home. This past week I have spent a good deal of time with my two older children and have really enjoyed hearing about their trials, tribulations and happy moments. On Sunday night my Mom, Dave and I went to dinner where my daughter works. At a table across the restaurant was a child of about 10 in a wheelchair. This child was severely handicapped. It struck me how very lucky I am to have three healthy, happy children that want to share their grown up live with me. I need to appreciate them more and take them less for granted. For my son that is still at home I need to spend more quality time with him, enjoying him for who he is. I love my children dearly and I want them to know that and remember that. So my tackle is not just for this week, it is for life.

Spot on!
My two children are grown, with teenagers! I value every minute I invested in them while they were under my roof. Good goal, Christine!

Kudos for you keeping it out of the landfill and why not make some extra bucks to spend on something you need or makes you happy. As for spending more time with the kids, I think they they made a song recently about that whole sitaution called "You're gonna miss this" and it does sum it up. Sometimes a little reality check pops in at a good time.
BTW, nice blog! Stop by my Tackle it Tuesday where I am tackling an outhouse, not a bthroom but an outhouse!

I really feel what you were saying about keeping close with your adult children. Daily life tends to be so hectic and busy that I'll be racing through the day and won't realize until late at night that I failed to check in with any of my grown kids.

Those are great tackles! I pray that my children will want to be close with me when they're older!
