Friday's Feast 12/28/07

Appetizer Name 2 things you would like to accomplish in 2008.
I have lots of things I would like to accomplish in 2008. Probably the most important two I can think of right now would be 1.) find a legitimate way to make money working from home and 2.) get more scrapbooking done.

Soup With which cartoon character do you share personality traits?
This one was hard. So I went here cartoonquiz and took a quiz. This is what they told me : You are Tweety! You are cute, and everyone loves you. You are a best friend that no one takes the chance of losing. You never hurt feelings and seldom have your own feelings hurt. Life is a breeze. You are witty, and calm most of the time. Just keep clear of backstabbers, and you are worry free. Goes to show you how dumb some quizzes are!

Salad What time of day (or night) were you born?
I think it was midday but I am not sure. Will have to ask my Mom!

Main Course Tell us something special about your hometown.
Well my hometown growing up (until I was 8) was Enon Valley, PA. There is nothing special about that town, it is tiny! I now live in Naples, FL (and have since I was 8) and we have the most gorgeous weather most of the year. It is sunny and 72 at 9:30 am and we'll be in the 80's before the day is out.

Dessert If you could receive a letter from anyone in the world, who would you want to get one from? Maybe an old friend I haven't heard from in ages?

Some People Where Meant to Have A Career...

and I am not one of them! I absolutely love being at home. I loved being at home when my kids were little and I was fortunate enough to be able to do that. Now I am totally enjoying Bailey and the other benefits of being at home. And one of those benefits are my crafts. Here is a great beaded ornament cover that I am making in all different colors. Along with the blue, red and green I also have gold, purple, pink, and a turquoise blue to make. What do you think? I love them and they are so fun to make. The pattern is from Michelle Skobel and I got the kit for free from Ready to Bead.com. I am selling the completed ornaments at eBay.

Amazing Bailey

There is an old saying that the older you get the faster time goes. Someone knew what they were talking about! It hardly seems possible that Miss Bailey is four months old already. She is such a doll. She had her doctor's appt today and weighs over 15 lbs. Quite a difference from the skinny, elephant skinned baby that Nicole brought home from the hospital barely 6 lbs. She looks so healthy and happy now. Don't you love her ruffled bonnet?

Friday's Feast 11/30/07

Feast One Hundred & Seventy

Appetizer What is your favorite carnival/amusement park ride? I do not like carnival/amusement park rides of any kind. The merry go round is too fast for me. I am prone to migraine headaches and any kind of spinning, etc will give me one. I don't even like to ride in a car much less an amusement park ride. I do enjoy going to carnivals and amusement parks. The food at carnivals is great!

Dessert Approximately how many hours per week do you spend watching television? This is a hard question. When the boys are here the TV is always on. But just because Spongebob Squarepants is on does not mean I am watching it. I watch approx 6-8 hours of TV a week but since I am not working it is on more.

Housing Market

My blog is usually filled with picture of my grandbaby, my kids or my crafts but Wednesday morning I got a surprise that I was not really expecting. I got layed off at work. I worked for a roofing company and we had been told for the past year that although the housing market was not doing well that the "A" team was in place and we would prevail. Well, working in Accounting as I did, I could see the writing on the wall. I just didn't think it would affect me as early as it did. I really am glad that I am not still there waiting for my layoff. I can only image the stress that the people that are still there are going through. My layoff has happened and I am off to collect unemployment. I did get a week and a half pay and my vacation days so I am set for a couple of weeks.

I have been toying with the idea of opening a day care again. I ran a day care when my kids were little and it is the perfect way to be able to stay at home with your little ones while providing an income. When Nicole started calling around for day care and found out what places are charging and finding no spots available, it got me to thinking. The layoff will just push that thought into reality.

My dad, the kids, Bailey and I are off to Pennsylvania for Thanksgiving to see my Grandma. With the birth of Bailey there are five generations and with her being 93 we thought it was the perfect time to visit. When we get back I will get to the serious business of cleaning out the garage and setting up my day care.

Friday's Feast 11/16/07

Feast One Hundred & Sixty Nine

Main Course What values did your parents instill in you? Honesty

Dessert Name 3 fads from your teenage years. Big hair, MTV, and chunky heels

Turquoise and Brown Set

By now, you probably have guessed that I love the kits from www.readytobead.com. This necklace is from a kit from them called Turquoise Drops Necklace by Michelle Skobel. I purchased more of the brown seed beads and changed the pattern slightly to be able to make the set. On the necklace, I didn't put on as many turquoise beads and made the back of strap plain. I took one section of the necklace and made an earring. Then I took a pattern I had downloaded off the internet and made the bracelet. I think the whole set is cool. I can't wait to wear it.

Friday's Feast 11/9/07

Feast One Hundred & Sixty Eight

Appetizer Which snack do you like to get when you go to the movies? You have to get buttered popcorn and a soda but I really don't like popcorn. Twizzlers is my personal favorite.

Salad What is your first name in Pig Latin? ristineChay
Main Course Name something you are picky about. Weird I know, but the size of my purse. It can't be too small to hold all the essentials, but not too big that I have to dig stuff out of the bottom. Last weekend I went to a craft show with my mom and got what I think is the perfect purse.
Dessert Fill in the blanks: I ____ ____ yesterday and I ____ ____ today. I went to work yesterday and I will bead today.

Main Course Name something clever or practical you have thought of that should be invented, but hasn’t yet. A house that cleans itself????

Dessert List 3 things you would like to receive as gifts this upcoming holiday season. With three kids and a grandbaby I really haven't thought about what I want for Christmas. I guess if money was no issue I would like a SLR Digital Camera, perfume and GC to Victoria's Secret to buy those expensive bras.

Bailey is Three Months Old!

It hardly seems possible that Bailey can be three months old already. It seems like yesterday that her Mom was a baby. Bailey is getting bigger and cuter every day.

Halloween

Here are the kids on Halloween. Nicole started her new job tonight at Stevie Tomato's and she got to wear her Halloween shirt. They had a guy face painting and he copied her Snoopy from her shirt. Brandon was a call girl. I helped him with his makeup, his bust and his pantyhose. I think he looks pretty good. Brent was a nerdy kid with scotch tape on his glasses, hair slicked back and pens in his pocket. And precious Bailey was our Chunky Monkey. Brandon went trick or treating with friends and Brent, Bailey and I went trick or treating in our neighbor and stopped by and saw Granny.

More Finished Jewelry!

This necklace is Floral Lace Necklace by Michelle Skobel from a kit from www.readytobead.com. This was a quick and fun necklace to make. This was one of the great free kits from Ready to Bead.
This black and white bracelet is from a kit from Jenny Shibona at http://madchiwawadesigns.com/. The bracelet was fun to make but the clasp was a pain. But, I think it turned out great and I love black and white together.

Netted Daisies Set

This set is made from a necklace kit from www.readytobead.com called Netted Daisies by Michelle Skobel. What was so cool about this kit is there was enough extra beads to make the bracelet and earrings. I hate it when I run out of beads in the middle of a kit. This was a fun set to make.

I'm Getting Some Jewelry Finished!

I trying to get some UFO's finished. This embellished edge loom bracelet was finished except for the clasp. Although I love to do loom work, I hate to finish them and add the clasps. But, I finally found a clasp that works with the bracelet.

Two More Finished Bracelets

Here are two bracelets I finished up this week. I am in a swap and need to make three bracelets but I don't know which ones I will send. The red bracelet is made with size 11 triangle and size 8 seed beads. It is called Slither Chain and is published in Beadwork Created Bracelets by Jean Campbell. It was a fairly quick bracelet to make.
The blue bracelet is one of my favorite patterns. I just love twisted bugle beads. It is called Pillas of Stength designed by Jill Wiseman and published in Bead & Button August 2007.
I am working on two different necklaces right now. I have another swap to work on - a necklace swap so will have to decide which necklace to send into that one.

Earring Swap Done!

I finished my third pair of earrings for a swap I am doing with a gal I met online. She and I were paired for a bracelet swap and we both liked each others work so we are swapping just the two of us. This is a pair of flower earring that I thought turned out well.

I bought these beads at a bead show and thought they were so cool. I hadn't done anything with them but for a simple, cute pair of earrings I thought they turned out great! I have a whole strand (minus two) of these beads and am going to look for something to do with the rest of them.

The third pair of earring is from a necklace pattern that I got from Ready to Bead. I think it was a freebie kit and as I was making the necklace I saw these earrings. Only bad thing is the copper color. I found earring bases but had to make my own jump rings from copper wire.

More Scrapbook Layouts!

Busy Crafting Weekend

For those of you who know me well, you know I live for the weekend and my down time. I was up very early this morning and finished this bracelet for a swap I am in. I have already received my swap bracelet. I hope my swap partner likes her bracelet as much as I liked mine.

I finished this set a few days ago but I purchased the padded envelopes today to mail it. This is copper wire with black and copper beads. I don't do much with wire but I thought they turned out ok.

I also got to do some scrapbooking today. I completed 8 pages - all birthday pages. I did Brandon's, Dave's and my birthdays from 2006.

I also watched Bailey today. We went shopping at K-Mart. I got some stretch pants to wear to work - I am tired of being uncomfortable at work, so I bought new pants! Bailey got a colorful toy and I bought Brent and Brandon socks.

I spent some time today downloading digital scrapbook supplies. I purchased both of Renee Pearson's digital scrapbook books and really want to get started with digital scrapbooking but am not finding the desire to sit down and work on it. I know it is going to take me some time to learn and I just want it to be easy.

I have another swap I am in for three pair of earrings. I have two pair done and I going to look for a pattern for the third pair today so I can finish them in the morning. I really want to have these swaps ready to put in the mail Monday.

Bailey is Two Months Old!

It is hard to believe that Bailey is already two months old. She has put on weight and looks so much healthier. What a chunky monkey. She is smiling and watching her mobile on her swing and she loves to listen and watch people talk. What a cutie patootie!

Busy Birthday Weekend

I had a fantastic birthday weekend. My birthday was Friday. I got Happy Birthday phone calls from Dave and all the kids. I got a bouquet of flowers from my friend in Tucson, Wendy and Dave sent me these beautiful red roses. Yes, I am a spoiled brat! My friend (and boss) Sue told everyone in the office it was my birthday so I got lots of HB's and she got me a really neat necklace and bracelet from Best of Everything. What a great store.

My mom had us all for dinner and what a spread! We had turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potato casserole, strawberry pretzel salad and cola cake with peanut butter icing. YUM! She got me a really cute jumper and shirt from Bon Worth and this huge mason jar that I think I will use to save change.

Dave then took me to Fort Myers Beach for Saturday night. We stayed at Diamond Head Resort and walked to a nice resturant that served great seafood. We sat on the balcony and watch the sunset and also got to watch a wedding on the beach. What a great spot for a wedding. We had a fabulous time and I just got to relax for a day. We left this morning, ran to Wally World for essentials and now we are home. Just a perfect weekend.

Main Course: If you were a celebrity, what would you do for a publicity stunt? Being I am a totally behind the scenes type person and would never do anything to bring attention to myself, this is a hard question to answer. I think I would use my "celebrity" to help people, either hurricane victims, the hungry or the homeless.

Dessert: What do you consider the ideal age to have a first child? I was 25 when I had my first and when I brought Nicole home from the hospital I was totally overwhelmed. My daughter is 19 with a newborn. I think that is young but I am sure she will handle things just fine. I think any time that God intended woman to bear children is the ideal age. It is different for everyone.

More Jewelry

I finished two pieces of jewelry that I have been working on for a week or so. The first is a bracelet from a free kit from http://www.readytobead.com/. It is a Glenda Payseno design titles A Double Crystal Daisy Bracelet. It was fun to make.

The second piece I finished is a necklace from Sandra D Halpenny's Drop Lace Necklace Pattern Collection 2007. This is Drop Lace Necklace #1 in blue and fushia. The necklace kits are always too short for me. I don't like anything up around me neck. So, I always have to work around the length of the kits. I did the same circle pattern that the crystals are dangled from.

Swap Bracelet Found!

I found it! I knew as soon as I told someone I couldn't find my swap bracelet that it would turn up. It was in with the rest of my jewelry. I guess it wants to stay with me. Hopefully my swap partner will like the bracelet as much as I do. It is made from a free pattern at http://www.bead-patterns.com/ item 11066. It was a fun bracelet to make.

More Bracelets

I am in a bracelet swap and have my partner's bracelet all done and with all the excitement of the baby shower and Bailey's early arrival I have misplaced the bracelet. But while I was looking for it I came across three bracelets that I have finished recently.

This pink bracelet is made with cube beads and seed beads. It is from a pattern in the June 2007 issue of Bead & Button. It was a quick and easy bracelet to make and made with my favorite beads - cubes!

This bracelet is again made with clear gold lined cubes and gold seed beads. I told you I liked cube beads. This is a dainty bracelet pattern from Crazy About Cubes by Carole Ohl. This book was pricey but the directions are good and there are six patterns all using cube beads!
The third bracelet I came across is the same pattern at the gold bracelet. This Skinny Peyote bracelet is made with black cube beads and silver seed beads. Ok, now that I have wasted another 1/2 hour scanning my bracelets and posting them here I am going to continue to look for my partner's bracelet.

Baby Loves Bailey

Royal Drops Necklace

Here is a set that I made from a necklace kit I purchased from Ready to Bead. This kit is called Royal Drops Necklace and the pattern was designed by Michelle Skobel. I made some changes to the necklace so there were enough beads to make a bracelet and I have enough drops to make a pair of earrings. I also added some blue seed beads so the blue color showed up more.

Bailey's Great-Granny

Bailey is one lucky girl. She has five generations on both sides of my family. I have a grandmother still living at 92 and Nicole's dad's grandmother is also 92. I don't know if Bailey will get to see all her greats and great-greats, but it's cool that so many of her relatives are still alive.

This is my Mom holding Bailey. This is the first great grandchild for my Mom and Dad. As excited as they were about Bailey, you would have thought they were having their own baby. Bailey is named after my Mom. Her maiden name is Bailey. Cool, huh?

Great-Granny spent about 2 1/2 hours holding Miss Bailey on Saturday morning while Nicole slept. You can just see the top of our "baby", our teacup Yorkie, Baby looking at Bailey. Baby doesn't let me alone when Bailey is in my arms. She is a bit jealous but very gentle with the baby.

Bailey's Granny

Ok, I never did find my cord for my camera. It must have decided it wanted to live somewhere else. So, I ordered one online and now I can download pictures again. Of course, now I will find the original cord. Anyway, here I am with my precious Miss Bailey. She is such a sweet baby. There is no better thing to come home to than a newborn baby.
