Saturday Social

Saturday Social #11 May 24, 2008
Today's Saturday Social Question:
It is Memorial Day weekend here in the United States... do you have any big plans or traditions?
My Answer: We don't have any traditions or big plans. This weekend happens to be my son's high school graduation so we are celebrating that this weekend. Otherwise, we usually just enjoy a day off of school and work and cook something on the grill.

The Thursday Threesome

Thursday Threesome 05/22/08
::Anna's Tax Wholesale Sale::
Onesome: Anna's Tax-- Okay, what is the most onerous tax you've ever run across? Yes, alcohol and tobacco can fit in, but I was thinking of some regional quirk... I can't think of any local tax that is crazy.
Twosome: Wholesale-- or retail? Do you prefer to drive to the wholesale stores to save over the regular store prices? ...or does the handy 5000 pack of macaroni and cheese not work for you? We do shop the wholesale stores but mostly for paper products and drinks. Occasionally we will pick up a huge quantity if we are having a party or get together but usually I shop at Wal-Mart.
Threesome: Sale-- Do you have 'Tax Free' sales in your area? Every so often one of the hardware places has a "We Pay the Sales Tax" weekend. ...and hey, 8% is 8%! The week before school starts they have a tax free week here. Our county tax is 6% but I am not going to fight the crowds the week before school starts to save 6%. We have also had weeks during hurricane season where you could get hurricane supplies (under a certain dollar amount) tax free.

28 Days - Day 15

The photo prompt for Day 15 which is really today Thursday May 22nd was My comfy _____. My choice was my recliner couch. In the evenings after dinner and dishes are done this is were you will usually find me. With my feet up working on something bead related. You may notice my Ott light, my laptop and some beads, all within easy reach!
The project for today was to write down 10 things that were on my to do list. After I got done with my list I remembered one more thing that needs to go on my list. Watch Ugly Betty! I love that show. We will have to plan the ice cream field trip around that show!

Happy Thursday!

28 Days - Day 11

The photo prompt for Day 11 was street sign. So, I took my trusty camera and walked to the entrance to our development and took a picture of our street sign. I live on Summit Place Circle.

Day 11's project was to make four cards for our Rolodex Inspiration File. I finally determined that I was over-thinking this project and just picked out paper and embellishments that matched and viola! I have four cards for my Inspiration File!

28 Days - Day 13

The photo prompt for Day 13 was the outside of your home. I live in a townhouse and love it. It is plenty big enough but small enough to be comfortable and cozy. It's a place I love to come home to.

Day 13's project was to complete a quick and easy card from a sketch and I'll have to say this was one of the easiest cards I have ever made. All supplies for the card are from Close to My Heart.

I need to catch up on a couple of projects for this class. I have fallen behind this week due to sheer laziness. I have been tired and not accomplishing much at all this week. Better get it in gear since I have a graduation party here in three days!

28 Days - Day 12

I am skipping around again on my 28 Days class from Big Picture Scrapbooking. I need to leave the house to take a few photos and haven't had the need to go into town. My mom and dad are arriving today and my dad and Dave are going to see Larry the Cable Guy so my mom, the boys and I are going to get some ice cream at Sweet Treats. Then I can get
pictures that I need to finish a couple of days. Day 12's photo prompt was family photos. I am a picture frame freak. I have hundreds of pictures frames and I even have pictures in a few of them! Here is the table in my foyer with lots of silver frames with pictures in them. Day 12's project was a layout from a sketch with a Memory Sparkler. The Memory Sparkler that I choose was Grandma. This layout when together really quick and I really like it!

Digi Layout #5 & #6

I have had such a great time with my Up & Running with Photoshop class at JessicaSprague.com. Jessica is such a great teacher and the videos are so easy to follow. These two layouts are midweek week 3. They are made from templates and are so easy!
