Sunday Scrappin'

Happy Sunday and Happy Sunday Scrappin'. My Mom was here this week and since we spent plenty of time thrift store shopping I didn't get much scrapbooking done. I did two pages from My 365.

My to-do's this week reads a lot like last week:
  1. Move my craft supplies downstairs so that I can set up my day bed and get it out of the hall. I am working on this and should have the bed up today.
  2. Get caught up on More Mad Digital Skillz.
  3. Get caught up on Got Sketch 104.
  4. Work on The Challenge of Me class.
  5. Get caught up on My 365 challenge blog.
Last week the challenge was to feature Dad in a layout or card and I didn't do it! This week's challenge is to get creative with summer inspiration. I took some pictures of Bailey outside this morning so maybe I'll scrapbook them.

Stuff and stuff and more stuff

It has been another crazy week at our house. My Mom was here until Thursday evening and we had fun thrift store shopping and hanging out. We went to Wally World and ate out a couple of times. She also finished the last square of an afghan that she had crocheted. I tied in all the loose strings, crocheted the squares together and did a border. I will take a picture and post it.

I went to the doctor's on Tuesday morning and he put me on five different medications. I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol. So I am supposed to alter my diet, restrict my sugar intake and start exercising. I have decided that I am going to go to Weight Watchers. I think that will be the easiest way to achieve my goals and loose weight at the same time. I was taking to Wendy and she mentioned that she started WW and I thought that was an awesome idea for me too. There is a meeting on Monday morning I am going to attend and then I will go on Thursday mornings to a meeting place a little closer to home. I am a Lifetime Member from years ago so can go to more than one meeting a week.

I also started back to college this week. I got a Pell Grant so it won't cost me anything to go. I am taking Accounting I and it is on Tuesday and Thursday nights. I have signed up for three classes in the Fall - Accounting II, Economic I and Interdisciplinary Science I. I have 32 credit hours already and a 3.83 GPA. Not bad for an old gal like me.

Family Get Together

We had a nice family get together yesterday. My Mom, Dad, sister and two of her kids were here. We had Italian Baked Chicken, Zucchini in the Oven, Crockpot Macaroni and Cheese, a cherry salad that my sister brought and a layered salad and carrot cake that my Mom brought. Yummy!

Here is Brandon. We celebrated his birthday yesterday since he will be turing 19 on Saturday the 27th. Happy Birthday Brandon! I can hardly believe he is 19.
Here is my Dad excited about his gift certificate from Lowe's. My sister got him two dress shirts and ties.
Here is Bailey and Jenna. Jenna had brought her iPod and Bailey thought it was cool to hear music through the headphone.
We had a great day and my Mom stayed to visit with us for a few days. We are going to Ft Myers to the thrift stores so I may have a post later with the goodies I find.

I have a confession today. I went to Walgreen's yesterday to purchase greeting cards and spent over $10 on three cards. No, that is not my confession. My confession is - I have thousands of dollars worth of rubber and acrylic stamps in my craft room. So why am I spending money on greeting cards that I could make? I also have two shoe boxes full of card that I have made in the past - why couldn't I go through those cards and see if I have a suitable card instead of just going out and purchasing one? CRAZY!

Sunday Scrappin'

Happy Father's Day! I am planning a get together today for Father's Day and also Brandon's birthday. He turns 19 on the 26th so decided we could celebrate both holidays at the same time. I can't believe the next celebration with be Bailey's 2nd birthday late next month!

My ta-da's this week include one paper scrapbook page. Amazing! I haven't done a paper scrapbook page in months. I am taking Sketch 104 and this is my take on Sketch 1. I love taking these classes and am now behind two sketches so hopefully I will get caught up this week.
These next two pages are digi pages and the second one is from the More Mad Digital Skillz class at Get It Scrapped. I am also a couple of classes behind in this class but am slowly catching up.

I start a new class at Big Picture Scrapbooking called The Challenge of Me! And the first challenge is I have been given the size of 8" x 8" to scrapbook in. This will definitely be a challenge since I do most of my scrapbooking in 12" x 12". I am excited for this class to start.

My to-do's this week:

  1. Move my craft supplies downstairs so that I can set up my day bed and get it out of the hall.
  2. Get caught up on More Mad Digital Skillz.
  3. Get caught up on Got Sketch 104.
  4. Work on The Challenge of Me class.
  5. Get caught up on My 365 challenge blog.
I didn't participate in last week's challenge of doing a layout with opposite on the color wheel. This week the challenge is to do something regarding dear ole Dad.

Happy Sunday!

Crazy Beautiful Week!

I think my life can be described by Darryl Worley's chorus "I love this crazy, tragic, Sometimes almost magic, Awful, beautful life." I have had another one of those weeks and most of it is brought on myself. The week started off with cleaning up the area behind the couch in the living room to make room for my craft desk that was upstairs and not being used. Since we moved it downstairs I have used it more than the in the six months it was upstairs.
Then we got a crib for Bailey and Dave put that up the other night so this little crazy curly haired girl could spend the night with us. She loves her new bed and the dogs love that they can see her through the slats.
And then yesterday we got a twin day bed with a trundle and an old rocking chair from the store. We took all Bailey's old baby stuff (swing, bouncy seat, etc) there and loaded the chair and the bed in the rain last night. Left the mattresses for this morning. Now I have tons of work to get the rest of the guest room cleaned out so we can put the daybed in there.

And I am having a Father's Day and Brandon's birthday get together tomorrow. Right now you can't see the top of my dining room table so I have some work to do. I don't know what I am going to fix as my main dish either. Better get busy. Boo is still sleeping and I have a little over an hour before I have to leave for work. Have a great Saturday!

Sunday Scrappin'

It's time again for Sunday Scrappin'. Please come and join us!

My ta da's this week:

I didn't get as much scrapping done this week. I have been working on the space that I am moving my craft desk to. It was full of boxes of junk that I need to list on eBay so I worked on taking pictures and getting it ready to list.

Here is what I accomplished this week. This double page layout is about Bailey giving Uncle Brandon kisses. Bailey adores both of her uncles.
Here are two pages from My 365 Project.

And the only other page I completed is from the 40 Days of Joy. I so enjoyed this challenge and am disappointed that the pace on it is so slow. The gal who is hosting it is having some serious personal problems.

My to-do's this week:

  1. Catch up on my More Mad Digital Skillz class.
  2. I am taking Got Sketch 104. This is a paper sketch class that is awesome. I am hoping to keep current with it. It starts on the 15th.
  3. My main objective today and tomorrow is to get my desk moved downstairs.

Cooked the Day Away

Well I was feeling much better yesterday after spending Sunday in retail therapy and taking a nice long nap. So I cleaned, I did laundry and I cooked. I have been in the mood for a lemon meringue pie and Dave couldn't find one for me so I made my own. Here's my crust, not from scratch.
Here's my meatloaf before baking.
And my finished pie. Now the lemon filling and the meringue were both made from scratch. Not a pudding mix mind you, cook sugar, eggs, etc on the stove from scratch. And it was awesome!!!!!!!
The AuGratin Potatoes (from a box but oh so yummy).
And my finished to die for meatloaf. We have so much left that we will be having leftovers later in the week. YUM!
And here is my zucchini and yellow squash dish. It is super easy and really, really good. Slice and cook your squash in olive oil in a large skillet. Add in salt and pepper and a couple of crushed garlic cloves. When it is done to your liking, sprinkle with parmesan cheese and then top with mozzarella. Let set long enough for mozzarella to melt and serve. Delightful!
I am trying a couple of new recipes tonight and I will post pictures of them tomorrow.

Menu Plan Monday

I used to Menu Plan every week and have since stopped. It is crazy to try and figure out what to cook and shop for if you have no plan. So, I am going to start menu planning again. My plan is very unstructured. I come up with five meals and they may or may not be made on the day I planned. We always have leftovers one night and we usually go out to dinner another and that is why I only plan five meals. So with no further ado, I present my menu plan for this week:

MONDAY:
Best Ever Meatloaf
AuGratin Potatoes
Sauteed Zucchini & Yellow Squash

TUESDAY:
BBQ Sloppy Joes
Potato Salad
Chips

WEDNESDAY: (Both new recipes, click to go to link with recipe)
Easy Picnic Chicken
Baked Zucchini

THURSDAY:
Roast Beef Sandwiches (in crockpot)
Corn
Noodles

FRIDAY:
Pizza

I am in the mood for Lemon Meringue Pie so thought I would try this recipe. I am hoping my family enjoys my new recipes. Have a great week!

Something to Brag About!

I am thrilled to be chosen as co-host at Sunday Scrappin'! It's been a long time since something made me smile as big as being chosen did. I have been a loyal weekly contributor and am honored to have been chosen to co-host. I can't wait to come up with some challenges and get to work.

On another note, my plan today was to clean. I had another stomach/back ache attack last night and was up for two hours. I took three baths, the hot water running down my back seems to help, I had the heating pad out, I woke Dave to rub my back and I got sick. And since I was up so long I didn't get up until almost 9 this morning. Dave wanted to do something together so I suggested Goodwill. It's not enough that I work in a thrift store, I have to shop them on my day off. We went to Ft Myers and stopped at the GW on Daniels, stopped for a late breakfast at Mimi's Cafe, stopped at my fav Goodwill in South Ft Myers. We would have stopped at Salvation Army but they are closed on Sunday (good for them!) so I asked Dave if we could stop in Bonita. Come to find out the little store in the strip mall is a Clearance Center and everything is half price and they opened up a great big new Goodwill in an old department store. Awesome! I had a great day and it was fun to spend it with Dave and Bailey. I will post my finds later this week. So, I guess my cleaning will have to wait until tomorrow.

Off to post my junk to eBay!

Sunday Scrappin'

It's time for Sunday Scrappin' again! And tonight starts the new season of Army Wives! Yahoo!
Today I am staying off the computer and will instead try to get my house in some order. My ta-da's for the week include two pages from My 365 Project. I am so loving this and can't wait to see my finished album for this year.

And another My 365 Project layout.
I am taking a class at Get It Scrapped and these two layouts are from the More Mad Digital Skillz class lesson one. It was paper and picture tearing.

And my last pages are also from the More Mad Digital Skillz class lesson 2. This lesson was on embossing and I embossed the flower and the lettering on the tag. This has been a fun class.
We haven't gotten too much farther with the 40 Days of Joy over at Divine Digitals. The gal who is running the challenge has had some issues, good and bad so we are on Day 9. This is one layout from Day 9 and I am working on putting a list together for the companion page.
Here is my Day 8 from 40 Days of Joy.

My to-do's this week include:
  1. Keep up with my More Mad Digital Skillz class
  2. Keep up with the 40 Days of Joy
  3. Keep up with My 365 Project
  4. Work on my house and clearing out a space downstairs for my craft desk.

Random Acts of Kindness

This morning after I dropped Brent off at Sports Club I went through the drive through of McDonald's for some breakfast. When I got to the window to pay I had decided to get a Diet Coke so ordered one. I gave the gal my debit card to pay for my meal and she tells me that the lady in the car in front of me had paid for my breakfast and all I owed was for the drink. I can't even tell you what an awesome feeling that was. A total stranger paying for my meal. I hope the person who did this felt as good about doing it as I did about receiving a random act of kindness. Now, I intend to pass it on.
