Just Lil Ole Me

checking in. It's been a crazy couple of weeks since I got home from Tucson. First, Nicole took Bailey and went to visit her baby daddy (yes, the one that put her in the hospital) in Orlando. I was so upset I wanted to put Nicole back in the hospital! A mental hospital! Anyway, a little over a week later she is back home. I got to see her and the baby for a few minutes this afternoon and they are coming over in a bit.

Brandon has decided to move out and in with a friend. He got let go from his job because he called off too much. I don't think he is going to school much and he lays around home basically doing nothing other than his girlfriend. So today he decided that he needed to be able to watch tv in his own bedroom, packed up his stuff and left. I am hoping this will help him grow up and see how hard it is to live on your own. And at 18, with no job and no education. I will miss him but not his messes.

Dave, Brent and I had an awesome weekend for different reasons. I spent Saturday deep cleaning the kitchen. Dave took Brent to the Flea Market where they exchanged a pair of sandles for me and watched a cooking show. Then they put flyers on cars for the pizza place Dave delivers for. Brent brought home pizza and calzone and $10 for helping put the flyers up. He was very pleased. Sunday morning we dropped Brent off at church and we went hunting for a bookcase. First we stopped at Goodwill and I used all my will power to pass up all the alluring stuff to head to the back of the store to see if they had any bookshelves and they didn't. We left there and headed to Beall's since I needed a new pair of tennis shoes. I couldn't find any in my size. Strike two. So, we went to old faithful Wally World and I found my tennis shoes for a whopping $11.00 and two nice tall, five shelf bookcases for $29.00 each. Shopping made us hungry so we went to a little restaurant in a strip mall and guess who was sitting at the next table? Yes, Donna freaking Summer! She was so nice and gracious and even waited in line for the bathroom. I guess she owns a condo here in Naples and dines at this little cafe a couple of time a winter. COOL, huh?

Well, after our exciting breakfast we went back to Goodwill so I could browse. I got a lamp, a few clothes and a cute black and white purse. Dave put together the bookshelves when we got home and I loaded them up.

And yes, I have a LOT of books.

So, now I am waiting for Nicole and Bailey to arrive. I am sure I will have new pics of her.

Sunday Scrappin'

Sunday Scrappin' February 22, 2009

My ta-da's this week are all digital. I completed 10 pages this week and they are in the form of a slide show:

p>

My to-do's this week is a long list:

  1. We purchased two bookshelves and Dave is putting them together. I want to put all my books on my new bookshelves. I have boxes of books in the alcove outside my craft room and they are in my way into the craft room.
  2. I need to clean up all the boxes (the non book boxes) in the alcove so we can use the area as a sitting room and the boys can watch tv and play video games.
  3. After the alcove is cleaned up I need to straighten up my craft room. I have a beautiful craft area and I have been looking on line at some great rooms and thought I would like to take pictures of my craft room and post them once it is neat.
  4. I really need to get caught up on My 365 project. I am behind in my photos and way behind in my posting so hopefully this week I will get somewhere with that.
  5. I want to spend a bit of time each evening tagging my digital supplies.
  6. I plan on taking two on line scrapbook classes and want to keep up with them and make some "real" scrapbook pages.
Last week's challenge was to think outside the box and go round.... rounded corners, circle-shaped cards, a layout in a circular pattern, etc. Be creative! The closest I came to something round this week were my flowers or the wavy pattern on my hockey pages. This week's challenge duplicate! Use the same colors/ decorative elements twice, but slightly changed... in a two-page layout, or in two cards, or in two of whatever else you're making. That shouldn't be too hard since I tend to do two page layouts.

Happy Sunday!

More Beady Creations

I thought I would share the rest of the beaded creations Wendy and I made while I was in Tucson. Wendy bought these turtle shell type beads last year at the bead show. She gave me a few so I think I will make something similiar. I love the coppery color of this necklace. We took some silver clasps and painted them copper since we couldn't find any copper clasps.
This light green and copper necklace was also from stuff Wendy had in her stash. I made this for her. Simple but very pretty.
These next two necklaces were quick and easy. I strung the chips with some black pearls and the attached them to chain. A great way to use a few beads and have a great necklace. Or two.

Wendy and I went to Michael's and I found some cool silver chain that was on sale for 2 for $5.00. Just too good a buy to pass up. I made two necklaces and matching bracelets. I can't wait to wear these as they are fun!

I have one other necklace that I made but forget to photograph. It is blue with crystals and shells and chain. I will have to get a picture and post it.
I spent today doing laundry and some cleaning. I also was very busy on the computer and got six digital scrapbook pages done. I found another place to have my pages printed and I think I will try them out and see how they turn out. I am off to work on our master bathroom. I am cleaning cabinets, drawers and medicine cabinets. I just finished the book It's All Too Much by Peter Walsh and I am going to really try and tame the clutter monster that lives in my house. I am starting in the master bedroom and bathroom.

Sunday Scrappin'

Join us for Sunday Scrappin'. Last week I didn't participate since I didn't get a thing done. This week I have been on a roll. I completed eight digital layouts and worked on a bit of beaded jewelry.

The first two digi pages are of my daughter's 19th birthday. She was six months pregnant with Bailey and sicker than a dog.

Next two pages are of our Christmas celebration with my Mom for 2006 that took place in January 2007.

Then a couple of pictures of a Kelly Pickler concert we went to at the Southwest Florida Fair in early 2007.

And a single page of Brent being crazy.

And another single page-this time of Bailey. This is for My 365 challenge.

I also did some beading while I was in Tucson. Here is my link to some of the creations Wendy and I did. We did some other beading that I haven't posted yet but I will before next Sunday.
I have tons of house cleaning and laundry to catch up on this week so I don't know how much I will accomplish this week. I do want to get caught up on My 365 photo and quote challenge. I have pictures taken I just haven't posted them on my other blog.
Last week's challenge was to finish a Valentine's Day project. I am going to make cupcakes for my kids today so I guess that works for last week's challenge. This week's challenge let's think outside the box and go round.... rounded corners, circle-shaped cards, a layout in a circular pattern, etc. Be creative!

Have a great week!

Happy Valentine's Day

I am home and in time for Valentine's Day. I had a great time in Tucson, spent time with a wonderful friend, got beady, watched Chick flicks, did some scrapbook shopping, checked out the best used book store ever - Bookman's, had a few cocktails, ate good food, laughed and relaxes. I am happy to be home and get back into the swing of things here at home. The house is a mess, stuff out all over but I will work on that tomorrow.
Dave and Brent came to the airport to pick me up. My flight was uneventful which is always a good thing. We went to a PF Chang's for a yummy Valentine's Day lunch. I received two beautiful cards and a dozen red roses. I got Dave some yummy chocolates and Prickly Pear BBQ sauce from Tucson. I also got him a card and a tub full of Reese's Peanut Butter hearts. I was lucky, Dave shared his peanut butter cups. YUM! We are watching an Everblades hockey game on tv but I don't think I will be up too late as I was up at 3:45 this morning.
I have a couple more beady creations that I will share tomorrow as well as some digital scrapbook pages I did while I was in Tucson. Happy Valentine's Day!

Beady Creations

Well, my ten day vacation is slipping by much too fast. I am looking forward to being back home and seeing my loved ones and even being back at work. I don't like hearing about work and not being there. Wendy and I have done some beading. This first bracelet is from a kit called Crystalesque Bracelet from Wild Flower Beads. This was a fun bracelet to make and the colors are great. I am planning to wear it home on Saturday with my Valentine's Day shirt.
This second braclet is also a kit from Wild Flower Beads called the Lori Bracelet. I am not sure you can see the small metal pieces that are in this bracelet. They are called smiley faces. I have never seen them before, they are small smile shaped pieces of metal with holes on both ends to string your thread through. I really like this bracelet and am hoping to find more smiley faces since I could make these in all colors now that I have the pattern. FUN!
This last picture is of a necklace that Wendy and I put together. This necklace will live with Wendy since she bought all the pieces. There are two Kazuri beads and three metal pieces that she got from Antelope Beads. She was really happy with the way it turned out.

I have two more kits but am not sure I will start them while I am here. I need to leave something to do once I get home.
I finished the book Plum Spooky by Janet Evanovich and started Does This Clutter Make My Butt Look Fat? Should be interesting.

A Saturday in Tucson, AZ

I am spending a week in Tucson Arizona with my best buddy Wendy. I arrived on Thursday and we went to two bead shows. You can certainly tell the economy has affected the crafting community. The show that was our favorite had about 1/3 the amount of booths as last year. Friday we went to two more bead shows and again they were disappointing. I did purchase four kits and they were a good value. I play to work on one of them tomorrow so hopefully they will have good instructions.

Today we went to the Rennaisance Fair in Apache Junction, AZ. Here is the link to see all the amazing things you can do at a Ren Fair. We had such a great time, we saw lots of great shows and had some really good food. We spent the whole day there and the weather was fabulous.

Tomorrow we plan to chill at the house. It is supposed to rain and get cold so we are planning to bead and enjoy the day at home. I am here until Saturday morning so I will be checking back in soon.

Sunday Scrappin'

It's Sunday Scrappin' on Super Bowl Sunday! I got quite a bit done this week. The first two pictures are a small fold out album does in browns and oranges tied with grogain ribbon. With the exception of the fold out album everything I did this week was digital.

I was to publicly state that I think Anna Bowkis is genius! I am working through her 365 Days project from last year and have started her A Snapshot of My Life 2009. These three layouts are from the Snapshot of My Life. I am making them in a new size for me 6" x 12" and it has been fun to do something different. This is my cover page.
These next two are the January Month 1 challenge about routine. I used parts of both of Anna's sketches that she posted.

Here is week four of My 365. These are also my layouts for Layout Challenge 4. I again used Anna's sketch on her 365 Days blog.

I got two pages done from last year. These are from our Easter celebration in 2008. As you can probably tell, Bailey was the main attraction at this holiday get together. Brent, Dave and I were also as the get together but there wasn't one picture taken of any of us! And Brandon and my sister only had one picture each! Too funny!

My to-do's this week is to continue organizing my digital scrapbook supplies. I may get a few layouts done this week. I leave for Tucson on Thursday so don't know how much time I will have.
Last week's challenge was: A Sweet Treat. Maybe you'll make a treat box, maybe you'll scrap a favorite dessert recipe, or maybe you'll scrap a layout of your favorite sweet people. I think scrapbook pages with Bailey on it qualifies since she is one of my favoriate sweet people.
This week's challenge: inspired by my own {sick} household, I'm challenging you to come up with a creative get well card/ gift/or a health-related scrapbook layout. I am not sure I will get to this challenge although it is a great challenge!
Happy Sunday! Happy paper crafting!
